Abstract/Summary

ISOLATOR is an expert system shell that falls in the category of diagnosis and fault-isolation. The study desires to direct the advantages of such a tool in the field of expert systems. Microcomputer troubleshooting is the test bed selected for it is a subject that is suited for the category the system falls into. And with the use of methodologies in designing and developing expert systems the group has come up with a system that can be considered as an expert system tool. The ISOLATOR can be considered as a contribution in the field of expert system which will definitely aid students and researchers of artificial intelligence. The isolator is a system that is frame-based in nature and it has features such as a module that can create and update the knowledge base. It also has a diagnostic function wherein the created knowledge base can be loaded and tested.
