Abstract/Summary
The study presents the Automated Trolley System (ATS), which is a type of Materials Handling System. The ATS is composed of a self-propelled trolley, running on steel tracks, driven by two DC motors which is interfaced to an on-board microprocessor. Moreover, the study features port-to-port communication between two computers by means of infrared transducers. The ATS also features a Central-Computer Network (CCN) which is its basis of an effective route planning. Lastly, feedback is made possible through the handshaking abilities of the CCN and the on-board microprocessor using programs ATS-PROG and CCN-PRO.
