Abstract/Summary
AMAR Trading is a trucking company offering delivery/hauling services to its clients. Its basic operations involve the transportation of different materials to several provincial points in Laguna. The company operates two kinds of truck namely, dump trucks and ordinary six-wheeler trucks. The materials being hauled by AMAR Trading are gravel and sand, sugarcane, and other miscellaneous items like cement, plywood, and the like. The company has been existing for the past 31 years and is still getting favorable profits from its operations. AMAR Trading has several departments working hand-in-hand in the accomplishment of the goal of any business which is to gain profit. These departments are the scheduling department, accounting department, inventory department, and the purchasing department. The employees directly involved with the respective departments are the Scheduling Staff, the Accountant, the Storing Personnel, and the Purchasing Personnel. The Scheduling Staff is responsible of handling the delivery orders and assigning a specific truck for a delivery transaction. The Accountant prepares the financial reports needed by the company for decision making. The Storing Personnel are assigned to monitor the availability of the spare parts utilized by the company. The Purchasing Personnel are responsible for the buying or purchasing of the spare parts which are not anymore available or below the minimum level. Having the tasks of employees done manually for the past years has not helped the company to perform on its maximum capacity. All the processes
are not assured of running in a smooth flow. There is job duplication present in the existing system which causes delays in work turnover.
