Abstract/Summary
This study aims to improve a home security system using IP camera controlled by an android based application. The study proposed an alternative way to overcome and extend the application of existing security system. The objective is to develop a program that can access the GSM module to control the wireless IP camera using servo motors. The system can provide notifications via Short Messaging System (SMS) when motion is detected, windows are breached, and smoke is present. With the growing population of smart phone users, Android leading the way, it is now very common for an individual to have one. In addition, Android has a wide variety of applications to be used. The method of gathering the data was divided in several aspects. The use of PIR, window and smoke sensors gave an additional security feature with which the system can provide. The study was able to show some improvement compared with existing home security systems.
