Abstract/Summary
Inventory system is one of the important processes in companies for it allows monitoring of all the transactions and goods. Since inventory continuously changes from time to time, records must be taken into account regularly. Monitoring of inventory becomes useless if the records that a company has are outdated. This project aims to speed up and organize the inventory system of Bell Electronics Corp. by automating its inventory process. The system, consist of mainly two components, a portable data acquisition module composed of a hand-held barcode scanner, a Z8F6423 microcontroller for data storage and manipulation and RS232 cable interface, and a software application program comprising of a database system and a graphical user interface. The barcode scanner will be used to scan issued / received items, all of which will be stored in the Z8F6423 microcontroller, for uploading in the computer to automatically update the product inventory.
