Abstract/Summary
This study was conducted to develop a training program to enhance the physical self of female adolescents from Apelo Cruz, Pasay whose ages range from thirteen to eighteen. It wanted to find out through a survey checklist, responded by one hundred four female adolescents, the specific needs that would be addressed by the training program. Based on the needs of the female adolescents from Apelo, the following topics were included: good grooming, physical health, and understanding menstruation. Good grooming constitutes proper hair care, how to make the hair beautiful, proper posture, proper way of dressing, and how to apply make-up. Physical health on the other hand, includes how to prevent skin diseases, maintaining good health, and how to avoid sickness. These topics were developed using data from books, magazines, consultations from experts and other sources. The developed training program made use of a course/program syllabus made up of modules, lessons and objectives. For each lesson, different design components were incorporated. There were five steps undertaken in developing a training program, namely: (1) planning (2) designing the program (3) development of materials (4) Facilitation and (5) evaluation. Only planning, designing the program, and evaluation were included in this study.
Planning involves three phases: (1) conducting needs assessment (2) establishing program goals and (3) constructing guidelines/content analysis. On the other hand, designing the program constitutes three phases: (1) constructing a course syllabus (2) developing training specifications and (3) selecting design components. Two evaluation questionnaires intended to assess the content as well as the effectivity of the training program were proposed. These are supposed to be answered by the trainer and participants.
