Abstract/Summary
Hinaing is a video documentary that depicts the grief and despair of childlessness, the dilemma in turning to an unconventional means of reproduction, and the joy in having children through this method. In a society as conservative and religious as ours, artificial means of reproduction, specifically artificial insemination (AI), may cause resentment and unease among the general populace, particularly the religious and/or conservative groups. It is in this light that the proponents wish to produce a documentary regarding AI: that misconceptions be eradicated. This documentary aims to support and promote AI as a legitimate, (should be) guilt-free alternative/option for childless couples. Hinaing basically tells of how AI has changed the lives of three couples. It was shot in Hi-8 format, and was edited to a U-matic format.
