Abstract/Summary

The project is a 24-minute video feature on religious fanaticism, an extreme zeal over something, which goes beyond what is reasonable. This was shot in video-8 format, and was edited using a non-linear editing set-up. The story revolves around a poor fisherman and his family who have turned to God because they find it difficult to rise from their poor state. When the fisherman finally gets a bountiful catch and finds a statue in it, he thinks this was God's answer to his prayers. But he becomes fanatic over it and his relationship with his wife and children suffers. He brings the statue to sea with him and dies trying to save it when the waves threaten it to fall into the water.
