Abstract/Summary
A total of 9 species belonging to 3 divisions, 3 classes, 5 orders, 6 families and 6 genera were found in the waters of Laguna de Bay, Lower Bicutan area. They were Oscillatoria formosa Bory, O. ornata var. crassa Kuetz, O. princeps Vaucher ex Gomont, Nostoc sphaericum Vaucher, Pediastrum boryanum (Turp.) Menenghini, P. duplex var. clathratum (A. Braun) Lagerheim, Closterium lunula (Mueller) Nitzsch, volvox aureus Ehrenberg, and Cymbella aspera (Ehrenb.) Cleve. Water samples were collected twice a month from the two stations located in Barangay Lower Bicutan, Tagig from July to September 1995. The physico-chemical parameters had the following ranges: temperature (28 -34.26 centigrade) pH (7-7.4 pH units) conductivity (1000-1300 umHOS) transparency (20.6-32.5 cm) dissolved oxygen (0.8-4.45 mg/L) nitrates (1.97-2.16 mg/L) orthophosphates (0.57-0.92 mg/L) and salinity which had a consistent reading of 0 ppt. For primary productivity, gross production was found to have a range of 1.51-4.99 mg/L while chlorophylla z concentration was 0.02-17 mg/L.
