Two hundred sixty-two fecal samples were collected among residents of Sitio Magsaysay, Barangay San Agustin, Malabon, Metro Manila. Respondents were grouped as follows: infants (1 month-3 yrs. old), children (4-12 yrs old), teenagers (13-19 yrs old) and adults (20-52 yrs old). Fecal analysis was done using the Kato Thick Smear Method. Of the 262 fecal samples examined, 132 were positive for Ascaris lumbricoides, and/or Trichuris trichiura, and/or hookworms. Prevalence of A. lumbricoides was noted at 19.47 percent, T. trichiura at 16.41 percent and hookworm infection at 0.76 percent. Mixed infection with A. lumbricoides and T. trichiura was noted to be at 8.78 percent of A. lumbricoides and hookworm at 0.76 percent and T. trichiura and hookworm at 3.82 percent. Only a single case of triple infection with A. lumbricoides, T. trichiura, and hookworm spp. was observed. Prevalence rates for A. lumbricoides, T. trichiura, and mixed A. lumbricoides and T. trichiura ware noted to be highest in the children age group while mixed T. trichiura and hookworm was highest in the adult age group. Only two cases of hookworm were noted, one each in the children and teenagers age groups. The same is true in mixed A. lumbricoides and hookworm for children and adults age groups.
