Abstract/Summary

An alkaloid was extracted from the leaves of Gliricidia sepium through acid multiple extraction using methanol and 10% hydrochloric acid. Preliminary test was conducted by the Wagner's and Mayer's reagent. A pure component was isolated, making use of rapid column chromatography. The solvent systems which relatively affected the significant isolation was the petroleum ether-diethyl ether 15:15 v/v. To the isolated component, simple identification was carried out.
