Abstract/Summary
The Koizumi era was brought about many changes in Japan’s policies. This study aims to recognize such changes, most especially the Japan’s defense policy changes. The main objective of the study is to examine how the Koizumi era was able to change Japan’s defense policy stance from a passive to a more active state mechanism responding to the structural changes in the international environment. The study would then assert that the Koizumi era served as the turning point in Japan’s defense policy by adopting a more active defense posture in response to changes in the international environment.
