Abstract/Summary
The thesis, entitled IV Bag Monitoring System with Blood Backflow Detection using RF Module for Data Transmission, aims to provide solution to the frequent occurrence of medical errors in the application of intravenous therapy. A system was designed and implemented to count and regulate the number of drops of the intravenous (IV) fluid. The system is also designed to detect blood backflow that could be a result of a higher pressure coming from the patient. The system is capable of providing the medical attendant (MA) exact information about the status of the IV bag and the occurrence of blood backflow, if any, wirelessly by using an RF transmitter module. The information transmitted includes the errors encountered, drops counted and drops required that lessened the errors in calculation and admission of intravenous therapy. The system was proven to work by simulating the designed prototype of the system.
