Abstract/Summary

Today, events play a big role in the corporate operations of business entities especially big multinational corporations. Corporate events such as corporate parties, team building events, seminars, conferences and meetings are events that help create value and camaraderie in the workplace. Corporate events are now becoming a trend in the business world and the increase of the demand for such events is proportionally connected. With the continuous evolution of corporate events and other events management activity in an organization, brought to life the term corporate entertainment. And with the growth of corporate entertainment, the proponents found the need to conduct an exploratory case study on the driving forces that results to the corporate entertainment and its impact to the job satisfaction of employees. To support the problem statement, the proponents then looked into the corporate entertainment practices of Nestle Philippines and Holcim Philippines to give us the necessary information we need. To further add support to the study, the study was designed to look into 1) identifying the forces that drive corporate entertainment in the said multinational corporations, 2) determining the trends in corporate entertainment and 3) measuring the job satisfaction of the employees from both Nestle and Holcim. The proponents then used exploratory and causal research design to be able to clearly define the problem and explore the effect of the independent variables to the dependent variables. The study was then administered with the use of a questionnaire and survey as the primary research instruments to be able to gather data. By using comparing, analyzing, and using an ANOVA study from the qualitative and quantitative research study, the proponents can derive the similarities and differences of the multinational corporations’ corporate entertainment practices in order to further analyze the relationship of the driving forces of trends and its impact on the employee job satisfaction. Based from the 100 respondents for our study, we can say that there is a great similarity and closeness to the impact of corporate entertainment on the job satisfaction of employee. Also, we can conclude that the driving forces for both the companies are similar to one another. Both the companies have similar forces that drive their trends in corporate entertainment and they are: 1) the needs of the employees to keep them motivated and inspired, 2) the preferences of their employees, and 3) the availability of the allotted budget for the companies’ corporate events. The driving forces result in the different trends of corporate entertainment in the corporations. In Nestle, they came up with strategized events such as their “Nestle’s Got Talent” and “Gimmick Lunch” in order to maintain the wellness of their employees. Also, they conduct dance classes and yoga sessions to improve the state of their physical and mental health. In Holcim, they organize sports activities and events like badminton, basketball and running. While the trends in corporate entertainment remain to be inconclusive because the data gathered is not enough to support the claim, we recommend this matter for future researchers. Multinational corporations today show that they are willing to organize corporate entertainment events as they see the positive effect they give to the employee job satisfaction.
