Despite knowing his grandmother is gone, he is in denial, especially when he is failed to be given the proper answers to where she is and if she can still come back. As a result of all this, he ends up coming to the conclusion that his grandmother was only kidnapped by the aswangs and he must go back how to Tacloban in order to save her before it's too late and she is gone forever.
Francis finds a way to tag along with his aunt who was tasked to go to Tacloban to retrieve a document the entitled them to the house there. As their journey progresses  he encounters various creatures that his grandmother has told him about. In every encounter, the creature tries to take one item that ties his grandmother to the physical world, and also hinder him from being able to go back home in time.
In his quest to "save" his grandmother, he finds himself congronted by memories and feelings he refuse to acknowledge. As the events that lead up to the last moment he saw his grandmother before she leaves the house right before it gets dark, he tries his best to stop  everything. After all that he has done, nothing is changed and he cannot "save" his grandmother. He can no longer run away from his grief and sadness, and accept that his grandmother is gone.
