Abstract/Summary
The government aims to protect the rights of the family and as evidenced by various laws passed in the Philippines. Laws like, The Family Code, the Family Courts Act and Republic Act no. 9262 had created a system protection where the abuser in the family are justly punished.
Is in it possible for a man to be abused? Are men the only violent members of the society? Is it wrong for men to ask for equal protection?
However, the only law against Domestic Violence assumes that only the male members of the family are capable of being the abuser. In fact, the title itself of Republic Act no. 9262, Anti-Violence against Women and Children, suggests that only women and children are vulnerable to domestic violence.
