Abstract/Summary

Abstract. Chinoy is a screenplay about a Filipino-Chinese student in his quest to finish high school. The main character, Anton Hao Lee, faces many problems with his family, their business and with himself as he tries to finish his book report within the deadline. The story will tackle on problems between Filipino and Chinese communities in the Philippines. It will also focus on the problems of having a broken family, concubinage, and discrimination.

Through this screenplay the proponent wishes to impart to his readers that being aware of the discrepancies between cultures can help us in acquainting the Chinese minority with the Filipino majority and vice versa. The author does not intend to expose only what the Filipinos think about Chinese and what Chinese say about Filipinos... but would like to reveal that within these differences lie the similarities that people from both cultures must recognize.
