Abstract/Summary
TONYO, BAMPIRA NG TONDO is a 97-page black comedy about a delusional man who insists he is a vampire though nothing about him indicates it is so. Technically this is not a vampire story so don't expect Beta Lugosi, but it is gothic in spirit and is as detached from reality as most gothic horror films. An embrace with a self-styled fantasy world. The procession of events and images purposely contradict to keep the reader wondering if what he is reading occurred in the past, the present, or if everything is just part of a private nightmare.
The journey towards the real Tonyo behind this wildly delusive reconstruction of a vampiric past is also a cynical look at life, relationships and the urban culture. And while the play is set in Tondo in the late 1990s, the real drame takes place in the mind.
The screenplay is written in Filipino.
