Abstract/Summary
Tuks n' Tams Incorporated is engaged in the manufacturing and selling of exceptionally designed, cute and cuddly tissue box covers. The company name originated from the two dogs of the proponents and they believe that this name is both catchy and unique and that the two dogs are as cuddly as their proposed product.
The principal address of the company is located at # 49 China Road, Marikina Greenheights, Nangka, Marikina City. This place was chosen because of the availability of machinery and equipment needed for the production of the proposed product.
The proponents chose to enter in this type of business mainly because there is a favorable demand for tissue box covers in the market. Also people nowadays use tissues, particularly in boxes, instead of cloth because it is disposable and more practical.
JUNGGAWAMBA is an innovative tissue box cover that combines the concept of a stuffed toy and a conventional tissue case. It is made of plush cloth and resembles an animal complete with a head and four limbs with its body encasing a standard-size, 4 1/2 X 3 1/2 X 8 tissue box held in place by garters. The product allows the tissue to be dispensed from the tissue box by an opening on the middle part of the tummy of the animal, which is bordered by lace.
The proponents determined their target market to be members of the household and car owners since it is in homes and cars where a high rate of tissue boxes are needed and where the design and concept will perfectly fit. The results of the survey shows that a good percentage in the potential market are using tissue box covers and would prefer to buy uniquely crafted and beautifully designed tissue box covers. There is an expected monthly demand of 124 units. In testing the significance of the market acceptance for JUNGGAWAMBA, the Zerit of 1.73 falls within the acceptance region for a one-tail test at 95% level of confidence indicating that product will be accepted by the market. JUNGGAWAMBA also has a market share of 36.98%.
As for its marketing strategies, JUNGGAWAMBA will be distributed through personal selling and displays in department stores and bazaars (through consignments). The product will be promoted through the use of flyers to communicate and advertise it. The product will be priced using cost plus pricing method and the marketing objective is current profit maximation.
The average production capacity for JUNGGAWAMBA is 11 units up to a maximum of 16 units per production day. Production capacity is expected to increase 5% every month. The proponents have decided to enter into a subcontracting agreement with other firms for the production of the stuffed animal head. Each unit of the head will cost the group P 25.00. Through subcontracting, the proponents will have more time to produce more products and better meet the demand of the market. The production cost for each unit of the product is P 136.18.
Tuks n' Tams Inc. shall be established as a corporation with all its operations to be managed by a set of elected officers. Term of existence will be for (10) months beginning October of 1998 until August of 1999. The company's capitalization is set at P 12,000.00 and there is a projected income of P 42,346.15 at the end of its corporate existence resulting in a favorable Return on Investment of 353%.
For its societal benefits, Tuks n' Tams Incorporated provides for a list of advantages. The company's needed supplies and raw materials will be purchased from local suppliers, thus enabling small and large-scale firms to generate income from having more sales. Also, each of the proponents will be able to acquire and learn more and better skills, particularly those concerning the legal environment. Also, through the payment of its taxes, government would be able to generate more income. Each member is also taught to make correct, careful decisions and is reminded to be conscious with the needs of the environment surrounding him/her.
It is now evident that with a favorable demand for the JUNGGAWAMBA tissue box cover and that the proponents have the capability of producing such product, the company is now ready to start with its business. All the effort, money and time that will be spent in this business endeavor will be replaced by profits, skills, better relationships and other benefits mentioned above. Thus, the proponents recommend business operations be implemented and that Tuks n' Tams Inc. be operational for the period mentioned.
