Abstract/Summary
This thesis concerns homomorphisms between projective planes, and is an exposition of the first part of the article Homomorphisms of Affine and Projective Planes by J. W. Lortimer and M. Buccholz, Mathematics Magazine Vol. 5, No. 4, September 1982, pages 195-204.
An elementary treatment of homomorphisms between projective planes is presented. Characterization of monomorphisms, epimorphisms and isomorphisms of projective planes are proved using only the axioms of a projective plane. A geometric analogue of the first isomorphism theorem for groups and rings is discussed.
