Abstract/Summary
The objective of this thesis project is to assist the user in identifying the probable source of error on a circuit under test. This is achieved by using a combination of techniques similar to that of an automated testing equipment but on a smaller scale. The system acquires necessary information from a reference unit, via the hardware component, and stores the data in a database provided by the software program. This information is then compared with the information gathered from the circuit under test. Should the circuit fail to match the data from the reference unit, the user is guided to the probable cause of discrepancy and is prompted to correct the error. The hardware component can read and inject DC signals on a circuit. A set of probes is provided to facilitate this procedure. After the test has been conducted, it is assumed that the circuit will perform according to its specification. Since the project is limited to these functions, further improvements can be made in aspects concerning circuit analysis.
