The main objective of the study is to determine the pattern of health-seeking behavior of urban poor women and the factors that affect it. What health service facilities and agents do they consult when stricken with illness?, (3) What are the stages involved in the illness management process, (4) What demographic, socio-economic, and physical factors are related to the use of health services? (5) In what way are cultural factors interconnected with health-seeking behavior?.The research design is descriptive-correlational. In order to provide in-depth information, five cases of case histories were analyzed. Data were gathered through interviews. The instruments used were interview schedule and interview guide. The subjects are residents of Barangay Ugong, Pasig. The sample size for the survey is forty-eight and the sampling method is systematic random sampling. For the case study, the five subjects were selected purposively. Results show that more mothers utilize the barangay health center and the doctor more than other health facilities and personnels. They tend to use self-medication than the doctor when ill. More mothers avail of pre-natal than post-natal care. There are certain demographic, socio-economic, cultural, and physical factors that are related to certain aspects of health-seeking behavior of women. Specifically, these factors are the following: age, education, employment status, origin, length of stay in the community, length of stay in Metro Manila, view on common and serious illness, perception of cause of illness, and beliefs.
