Abstract/Summary

The life satisfaction of two productive and two non-productive elderly retirees were studied to come up with factors that affect the life satisfaction of married elderly retirees. Life satisfaction covered seven dimensions, i.e., health, economic security, acceptance by society, feelings of usefulness, contentment, freedom from loneliness and religion. The indigenous method of pakikipagkuwentuhan was utilized, together with two rating scales to measure degrees of life satisfaction. Data showed the educational attainment, reason for retirement, economic status, health, relationships with the family and economic stability affect the life satisfaction of elderly retirees during their retirement.
