Abstract/Summary
With all the advances in technology today, some things are still irreplaceable. The pen and paper have been proven effective for taking down information and for easy reference later on when the need arises. However, this does not mean that such time-tested innovation cannot be improved. The pioneers of note-taking, incorporated with current technological advances can be introduced to a specific application to improve data encoding and data management.
Today, the world is in the information era. People greatly rely on information – in this study, medical clinics need information about their patients. Information is everywhere and people find it important to capture information, beneficial for them, and store information into computers. One way of storing information into computers is by taking notes on a piece of paper, and typing those notes into the computer. In the process of retyping, accuracy is sacrificed due to human errors as well as the time and effort spent.
There is a solution – the Digital Pen and paper solution. With the Digital Pen, the handwritten notes on paper can be automatically saved into a computer. With the Digital Pen, coupled with a database and management system, the group has produced a solution for encoding patient information. This highly efficient solution has proven that it could supplant the manual encoding process that most have been accustomed to.
