Abstract/Summary

This thesis paper would like to determine the relationship of stress level of an individual to their performance with the presumption that it can be eustress with positive effect or distress with negative effect. With the bus drivers and conductors of Ceres Transport Inc. as the population, the researchers aim to identify the causes of stress, whether they are attributed to work related stressors or non-work related stressors. It was compared with the following performance indicators of the employees, attendance, behaviour, and grooming.

The relationship of the stress levels of employees and their performance were tested using three different statistical tools. One Factor ANOVA, Correlation Matrix and Chi Squared Goodness of Fit test were used. After attendance, behaviour, and grooming were tested with the stress level, the researchers found out that there is no significant relationship between performance and the stress level of the employees. This is due to the policies that are being implemented by the company.

The researchers have also determined that the Non-work related stressors contributed more to the total stress level of the employees than work related stressors. It similarly shows in the study that the highest ranked stressor is the health issues concerning their family or themselves.
