Abstract/Summary

The system is designed to characterize the performance of the scalable RF link for data transmission infrastructure that can be used for multi-node environmental data acquisition and gathering system as means of data transmitter. Three nodes are placed kilometers apart and each node is composed of a station with three sensors and a RF link. The stations are placed kilometers apart depending on the specific distance which provides the best possible working condition of the system. The last two stations are placed in an area without network coverage while the first station is the only station to be placed in an area with network coverage to have GSM access. The first station serves as a transfer point of data to a database to check the reliability of the transmitted data.

This study will test the performance of the RF link and GSM under good and bad weather conditions, and under different topographies. It will also build a link between areas without GSM coverage and areas that have GSM coverage. In that way, gathering information from one place to another would be possible. And sending warnings if there are circumstances in one area, especially on areas that are difficult to be reached, would be done.
