Abstract/Summary
Water quality analysis of San Juan River in Sto. Tomas and Tanauan, Batangas was done from June to November 1996 for the purpose of classifying it based on the DENR Administrative Order No. 34. Samples were collected once a month and were studied for their physical (surface temperature, depth, transparency, current velocity, total suspended solids, total dissolved solids) chemical (pH, dissolved oxygen content, total alkalinity, total hardness, nitrate content, orthophosphate content) as well as a biological (biochemical oxygen demand) characteristics. In most cases, the observed results of the different parameters showed that the prescribed standards for Class AA were met except for BOD, pH and orthophosphate content of the water samples. San Juan River at Sto. Tomas and Tanauan, Batangas may be classified as Class C that can be used for Fishery Water, Recreational Water Class II or for Industrial Water Supply Class 1.
