Abstract/Summary

Software Configuration Management systems allow developers to be in command of the progress of intricate systems. Complex systems include distributed systems that are geographically separated. SCMs provide functions such as version control, workspace control, and process control. This research aims to study current SCMs for future implementation on a given technical infrastructure consisting of two main servers and a host of widely distributed kiosks. It is also concerned with SCM repository, configuration and distribution modules for the infrastructure. The output of this research will be of use in the IT industry, especially to companies that use a widely distributed infrastructure, for handling packaging and distribution of assets from a command control to a widely distributed number of kiosks, through a distribution center, which acts as a middleman for all the packages to be distributed.

Keywords: Software configuration management, Version control, Software distribution, interoperability, worldwide.
