Abstract/Summary

The use of the Internet throughout the world has been immense during the past few years. With the growing number of users, the Net has become less efficient because of traffic that causes slowing down of access. To address this problem, an Internet Library Management System, PrILiMaS was proposed.

One of the three main modules which constitute the proposed system is the IOS Internet Object Store. The IOS module links the two other main modules, the Front End and the Back End, and is responsible for the reliable storage and efficient management of internet documents. To be able to accomplish such responsibilities, features to retrieve documents quickly through indexing, allow different versions of a document through versioning, enable offline download requests through offline downloading functions, check the end of validity of internet documents through file expiration and give faster response time to user request through proxy-like capabilities, were fabricated in the module.
