Abstract/Summary
The Balanced Scorecard is a metrics that has been used for translating the company vision into actions and for giving the company a balanced focus, based on the learning and growth, internal business process, customer, and financial perspectives. This paper discusses how a Balanced Scorecard would be designed for Happy Toys Inc., a small stuffed toy manufacturer having a rather informal mode of operations. By interviewing some members of the top management of the company, observation of the production process and surveying a number of employees, the mission, vision and values statements were formulated and the measures for the balanced scorecards had been derived. The measures from each perspective will have a cause and effect relationship that will eventually result to better financial performance. The measures in the Balanced Scorecard designed for the company should be periodically evaluated to find out if they are still applicable to the company's current situation.
