Abstract/Summary

This study is a journey into the creative life of Canadian fiction writer Isabel Huggan. It is an exploration of her fundamental ideas as a female writer regarding female sexuality using her first collection the Elizabeth Stories as point of reference. This exploration is mainly done through an in-depth interview with Huggan and her own revelations about her self, her creative process, her personal and literary influences give the reader a glimpse of her concerns as a creative writer.

In this study, the meaning of female sexuality is seen through the eyes of Isabel Huggan, with regard to how she acknowledges her female self, and how she creates memorable female characters. Thus, in an interactive way, the writer's revelations serve as a guide in the analysis of the thematic concerns in the Elizabeth Stories.
