Abstract/Summary
Five improvised culture media were prepared using different fruit peelings. The fruit peelings used were of papaya, pineapple, banana, guava and mango. Growth rate in days and dry weights (g) of mycelia grown in these media were compared with the control Potato Dextrose agar (PDA). Based on the parameters considered in this study, none of the improvised media used can serve as substitute to PDA. However, Papaya Dextrose Agar can serve as substitute for PDA in terms of dry weight produced.
