Abstract/Summary
A survey of medicinal plants in 18 different barangays of Candon, Ilocos Sur was conducted. Inorder to obtain relevant data, certain procedures were carried out namely: interview, survey, photography, and collection of plant specimen.A total of 90 were interviewed. Based on the combined responses of the interviewees, a total of 80 plants were collected and identified up to the species level. These plants belong to 46 families and 75 genera. The collected specimen were verified by the authorities of the University of the Philippines Diliman Herbarium. Some of the collected medicinal plants have already been clinically tested by the Department of Health and are now in a form of tablet like the plant lagundi (Vitex negundo) and sambong (Blumea balsimifera).
