Abstract/Summary
Sabang River was assessed for its water quality. Different physical and chemical parameters were measured which included depth, temperature, pH, salinity, conductivity, total solids, and dissolved (DO) content. Heavy metals, Cadmium and Lead, content were also determined. The study showed that the depth ranged from 12.1 cm to 78.7 cm, temperature ranged from 23.5 degrees celcius to 28.0 degrees celcius, pH ranged from 6.7 units to 7.1 units, salinity ranged from 0.0 g/L to 1.5 g/L, conductivity ranged from 270 umhos/cm to 910 umhos/cm, total solids content ranged from 280mg/L, and dissolved oxygen (DO) content ranged from 1.5 mg/L to 13.2 mg/L. Cadmium content ranged from 0.03 mg/L to 0.07 mg/L and Lead content ranged from 0.35 mg/L to 1.10 mg/L. Temperature and pH complied with the criteria set by the DENR under the Administrative Order no. 34 (1990) for Class D waters while salinity, total solids dissolved oxygen (DO), Cadmium and Lead content were all beyond the criteria set by the DENR for the said.
