Abstract/Summary
An ethnobotanical study of the Iraya Mangyans was conducted in Barangay Caagutayan, San Teodoro, Oriental Mindoro. Of the 137 species of plants found useful to them, 81 of these were of food use, 51 were medicinal and others were for building, household, hunting and fishing, and for ornamental purposes.Bamboo or kawayan (Bambusa sp.) and coconut (Docosnucifers) were the plants with most number of uses. Ginger or luya (Zingiber officinale), on the other hand, was the plant used as remedy for most ailments.
