Abstract/Summary

Guided by the concept of uncertainty reduction, this research looks into the tools used by the Barangay Bagong Lipunan ng Crame when communicating employee job descriptions. To facilitate this, 25 semi-structured interviews were done to evaluate the original communication tools used when communicating employee job descriptions and it was found that most of the members of the barangay believed that they were lacking and insufficient. To address this, the proponents revised the original communication tools, like the appointment letter and orientation program and included an orientation manual containing a script, visual aids, and a booklet containing the complete job descriptions and roles of the barangay members as a supplementary communication channel. The results of the research affirms the stipulation of the Uncertainty Reduction Theory, which is that communication tools that promote effective communication are able to reduce uncertainty in job roles within an organization, since it was found that the revised communication tools, as manifested by the evaluation results, were able to better inform organizational members of their job roles and descriptions and thus, reduce their uncertainty with it.
