Abstract/Summary

Fuel is widely considered as an important energy resource. The price of fuel is consistently increasing because of its scarcity as well as the continuous increase in demand for fuel. Efficiency in the allocation of fuel would greatly benefit the economy. However, the Philippines has yet to adapt or create its own policies on fuel economy, which is how far a vehicle can travel given an amount of fuel. Using input output analysis, we will simulate the effects of the adaptation of fuel economy standards in the Philippines. Our findings suggest that moderate standards will allow for fuel savings while not drastically altering the economic landscape.
