Abstract/Summary

Failure is something that cannot be avoided in sports. At one point in time, every athlete is bound to fail. This study takes into account what an athlete, specially a Filipino athlete would feel at that time. The researchers use a mixed method procedure to gather data. A survey was given to the general population of athletes to see what the general view on failure is. This is purely descriptive. The focus group discussions and the interviews were the gist of this study. Conflicting ideas were found in the data gathered but similarities were also rampant. In conclusion, it can be said that there cannot be a definite answer as to how failure is experienced because of the severe complexity and subjectivity of the experience.
