Abstract/Summary

Facial recognition is a key part in security systems and it is a way to identify or monitor persons in an area. This research project aims to track and identify peoples faces as they are seen or are within the view of a Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) camera using video processing with LabVIEW main programming environment used and MySQL along with ODBC are utilized for the database. The system utilizes Geometric Template Matching and Gabor Wavelet transform as its primary algorithms. Geometric Template Matching in LabVIEW presents the option of editing the edge threshold of an image this is done to define features that make a face. These features are usually the eyebrows, eyes, nose, and the mouth. The database consists of images of a person that is captures and pre-processed using the NI Template Editor. At most, three persons are detected at a time. The identity of the face, the time it was detected, and the time it left viewing scope of the camera are recorded in the database.
