Abstract/Summary

Everyday millions of people travel to different places such as schools, offices, malls, cities, landmarks, and many more. They use different ways to get to their destination, such as walking, taking cabs, riding trains and many more. But sometimes unexpected traffic jams occur on the road making it more difficult for them to get to their destination. Providing a web based path finding tool to help them get to their desired location will be of great help. This could make their trips faster, easier and more convenient.

iTour is a web based application that does the job of searching through places throughout Metro Manila. There will be a search tool that allows the user to input his/her current location and the desired destination that uses A* searching algorithm. There will be a map which can be panned according to the users preference. The possible input types can be street, address, city, and landmarks. Routes will be generated to provide information such as the means of transportation, distance, estimated time of arrival, and approximate amount of fare. Trip planning is another facility where the system generates an optimal path or the user can specify his/her own preferred paths to pass through when heading to a certain destination. There will also be a facility where the user can specify multiple waypoints and alternate route to avoid expected traffic jams.
