Abstract/Summary
Although currently a slow-paced trend, homosexual parenting is becoming more common in the Philippines. In order to further educate society about the homosexual community, the researchers have prepared a study on homosexual parenting which may also help individuals in the homosexual community learn from those with similar domestic situations As them. Through this study, the researchers seek to understand the process that single homosexual parents undergo in order to disclose their sexuality to their children as well as how the child copes with this revelation and the subsequent effect it has on the parent-child relationship. A multiple case study was utilized to understand what these seven single homosexual parents and their children go through. Comparisons were made on factors such as disclosure, acceptance, understanding, relationship and coping. However, there are also factors such as peer that explain why some children develop insecurities about hoe their parents act. Timing must always be taken into consideration as the wrong timing could affect the reaction of the child. The results and findings indicate that children are generally accepting of their parents homosexuality and that disclosure is essential in the growth of the parent-child relationship.
