Abstract/Summary
This study showed the number of buildings and infrastructures in District 5 in Manila City have complied with specific sections in the National Building Code of the Philippines. Examples of the sections concentrated in this study are the projections of buildings over streets and sidewalk, the compliances to the Law to enhance mobility, the truncation of corner buildings, etc.
Survey forms about the public's awareness towards the National Building Code of the Philippines were conducted. Interviews with practicing engineers and building inspectors in the City Hall of Manila were accomplished. The investigation of the different commercial buildings was done around District 5 of the City of Manila.
The study generated a map of the degree of conformity of buildings in the 5th District of Manila with respect to the National Building Code of the Philippines. The map can be a source of information on which parts of the 5th District of the City of Manila violates the National Building Code. This study can contribute to the knowledge of the public about the National Building Code of the Philippines and to the safety of occupants of the commercial buildings in Manila.
