Abstract/Summary
Most students living from their schools tend to live independently arrangements. This study aimed to identify the benefits and risks of living independently and its effects on the well-being of the students. In order to explore the problem, the researchers conducted interviews and focus group discussions with 27 adolescents, primarily individuals living in dormitories, condominiums and apartments. Of the 27 participants, 20 were female and seven were male, ages ranged from 18 to 23. Results were transcribed and content analyzed using qualitative methods. Results revealed perceptions of freedom and independence, value of family attachments, and certain factors exclusive in each setting. Food convenience, weight gain, tremendous risks like accidents and theft have also been reported.
