Abstract/Summary

Mobile devices are common in almost all parts of the world. In the Philippines, most of the people own mobile devices. Cellular phones and laptops are now common household item. Not only are mobile devices used for calling or sending message, but are also used for downloading files and internet browsing. Furthermore, with the rapid growth of Wi-Fi usage, new mobile devices are being designed to use Wi-Fi along with Bluetooth and sometimes Infrared. With these new available technologies, there is a great need for file transfer between devices. This thesis seeks to develop an application in which mobile devices can transfer files without the use of a server. Mobile devices such as mobile phones and laptops will be used for the file transfer. Mobile devices would be connected via a Mobile ad Hoc network setup, and would be able to transfer files within this Mobile Ad Hoc network.
