Abstract/Summary

This thesis is geared towards determining the level of readiness of Manang's Chicken for business formant franchising which included components of franchising such as the product, the brand, the system, the financial aspect and profitability, the legal aspects, the market, the franchisor, and the franchisee. The researchers have analyzed the current position of Manang's Chickens in the restaurant industry, and with their desire to grow as a company, the researchers have found franchising as an option that they may consider for expansion. Past studies about franchising have also been reviews in order to serve as a guide for the basic components of franchising. The research mainly employed a qualitative method of analysis for the series of interviews with the owner of Manang's Chicken, who will be regarded in this paper as Ms. to respect her confidentiality. Furthermore, content analysis and descriptive statistics was utilized for the interpretation of the results of the convenience sampling.

The qualitative research that the researchers conducted determined that Manang's Chicken is not yet ready to offer business formant franchising. The study showed that Manang's Chicken was only able to adhere to four out of seven aspects that are needed for a franchise-ready business namely the product, the system, the market aspects and the franchisor-franchisee aspect.

In spite of its adhere to four out of the seven aspects of franchise-readiness determined by the researchers, it is recommended that Manang's Chicken should further improve their business in the areas of branding, profitability and legal aspects in order for them to be completely known as franchise-ready. It is also recommended that it further evaluates and strengthens its current system- in terms of standardizing its daily operations, monitoring and auditing its daily transactions, improving its commissary, developing a more aggressive marketing strategy, and complying with the legal systems, before venturing into a business format franchising.
