Abstract/Summary

This study was conducted with the objective of identifying which of the types of motivation influence more the self-concept of the rappers. Specifically, this research is aimed to identify which between the intrinsic and extrinsic motivators had a greater impact on one's self concept based on the perspectives of Filipino rappers. Different facets of intrinsic and extrinsic motivators were also identified. To gather the needed data, a survey questionnaire was developed and distributed to 126 Filipino rappers through a referral mode of sampling. Correlation and descriptive statistics were carried out to analyze the answers of the participants. Results suggest that the chosen set of respondents consider extrinsic factors specifically instrumental motivators to have contributed more to their, self-concept. This, in turn, benefits the rappers as it enables them to re-examine, discover, and decide which among the presented set of motivators would further enrich their self-concept and would further enhance enrich self-concept and would further enhance their efficiency as rappers. In contrast, additional effort must also be utilized in assessing these contributing factors affecting one's self-concept through a wider scope and larger population.
