Abstract/Summary
The fast economic growth of the Philippines has been coupled with degeneration of the environment. Two of the areas encountering this problem are Lucena City and Las Piñas City, where conditions are becoming critical due to escalating generation of solid wastes. Moreover, from the total waste generation of the two cities, not all are handled instead some are illegally dumped on vacant land or thrown in rivers. The reasons for this would be accounted for by the inefficiency of the collection system and by some hard-to-discipline people. The study aims to improve the collection system of the two areas by taking into account the routing system. The study includes the development of an improved version of the collection system.
