Abstract/Summary
Of all the major inventions in the 20th century, a few have had the most profound effect than that of the television. It has become one of the major sources of information and entertainment for all.
But not all that can be seen on TV today is appropriate for all of its viewers, especially children. With this in mind, a need to come up with a channel lock for analog television sets arise since not everyone can afford new televisions that incorporate this new feature in them.
The channel lock is implemented using a ZILOG Z86E40 microcontroller connected to an RF modulator that controls which input is displayed on the TV and to a cable television converter which lets the microcontroller know what channel is being viewed by the user. Also, a separate remote control unit and remote control decoder unit is used to let the user program the microcontroller.
