Abstract/Summary

Electrical Machinery (ELECMAC) and Power Systems Distribution (POSYSDI) are three-unit courses included in the De La Salle University Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering curriculum. ELECMAC primarily deals with the fundamentals of electromechanical energy conversion, three-phase and single-phase AC rotating machines, DC machines, and circuit elements. POSYSDI primarily deals with the theory of traveling wave, phenomena in electrical power transmission, Delta-Wye analysis, EHV AC power transmission, and system modeling. Like other major courses in the ECE curriculum, ELECMAC and POSYSDI should be completely understood by the students.

The project, Computer-Aided Instruction (CAI) for ELECMAC and POSYSDI aims to help the students in learning these courses easily. The proposed CAI will supplement the classroom education by providing lectures on important topics, sample problems with complete and detailed solutions, and problems to be answered by the students at the end of every topic to test their comprehension. The CAI will be presented with animations and simulations to help arouse and maintain the interest of the users.
