16th DLSU Arts Congress (DAC) Conference: Call for Proposals

The 16th DLSU Arts Congress (DAC) invites students, faculty, scholars, artists, cultural workers, and practitioners to submit proposals for presentation (in-person). There are two (2) types of submission: (a) Individual, and (b) group/panel presentation.

Abstract proposal (250-300 words) must provide: short description, objectives, and proposed framework or methodology. Submission should be accompanied by the author’s (or authors’) bio-note (250-300 words) with contact information (email, mobile phone number). Proposals on theoretical and applied research are acceptable. Interdisciplinary approaches are appreciated. Proposals in the form of a testimony on public art engagement are much welcome.

The conference proceedings will be published as research articles. For papers to be included, a copy of the research article (4000-6000 words) must be submitted by May 30, 2023. Citations and reference lists should follow the latest style prescribed by the Modem Language Association (MLA, 9th edition). All submitted articles will undergo a process of blind peer review.

The registration fee covers access to the conference and other activities (performances, art exhibit), and includes refreshment/snack coupons. Participants are responsible for arranging their own transportation and lodging.

16th DLSU Arts Congress (DAC) Online Visual Art Exhibition: Call for Entries

The 16th DLSU Arts Congress (DAC) now accepts photo submissions of original visual artworks (in black and white or full-color) that creatively represent the theme “Engagement: Art, Memory, History / Ugnayan: Sining, Gunita, Kasaysayan” and subthemes. This year’s Arts Congress seeks to explore the intersections of art, memory, and history. The artwork submission should include cutting-edge, creative, and unique works in reaction to the current pandemic situation. The entries that are chosen will be displayed on the 16th DLSU Arts Congress website as part of the virtual art exhibition.


Mechanics:

1) This call is open to all DLSU and non-DLSU faculty, staff, and students.
2) Each participant can submit up to three (3) photos of his/her visual artworks for selection.

4) Upon submission, the participant will receive an email acknowledgment receipt for the proposal.
5) An email will be sent for notification of participation in the exhibit
6) By submitting photo entries to the 16th DLSU Arts Congress, the owner openly declares that such photos are his/her and that no copyright infringement was committed.

16th DAC Performance Showcase: Call for Participation

The 16th DLSU Arts Congress (DAC) serves as a platform for students to explore the theme Engagement: Art, Memory, History / Ugnayan: Sining, Gunita, Kasaysayan through a performance showcase. The performance entry should feature the culture and heritage of their respective localities or any innovative/artistic response to the present pandemic situation. The showcase will be staged live at the DLSU Amphitheatre.


Guidelines for Submission:

  • The performance should be related to the abovementioned theme.
  • The total number of performers should be 10 persons or less.
  • Suggested duration of the performance should be no more than 5 minutes.
  • Interested performers should request for a copy of the registration form to . Once filled-up, send it back to the abovementioned email address.
  • Upon submission, the performer/ representative will receive an email confirmation with a reference number. The reference number will be used in all future correspondence in connection with the showcase.
  • Accepted performers shall not receive any remuneration for their performance.
  • The participation to the PERFORMANCE SHOWCASE is FREE for all.
  • Deadline for registration is on December 1, 2022.


The 16th DLSU Arts Congress (DAC) is organized by the DLSU College of Liberal Arts (DLSU CLA), College of Computer Studies (CCS), Cultural Arts Office (CAO), The Museum, The Libraries, and the CLA Graduate Student Council (CLA GSC), with the support of the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation (VPRI) and the Office of the External Relations. The organizing team includes the Department of Literature, the Department of Filipino, Southeast Asian Research Hub and Center (SEARCH), Bienvenido N. Santos Creative Writing Center (BNSCWC), and the Research and Grant Management Office (RMGO).
